About The National Service Scheme (NSS)

NSS was established on 24th September 1969. The educational goal of the NSS implies that besides gaining understanding of concepts like community, social structure, power conflict, etc. occurring in real life situations, students should acquire competence in the field of programme planning. Shouldering the responsibilities, participation in cooperative tasks and promotional work in the community.

The service goal of the NSS also calls for an educational approach in solving community problems. Its purpose is to help the community to recognize its needs and to assist in the mobilization of resources to meet these needs.

Motto of NSS “Not Me but You”:

The Motto of NSS “Not Me But You”, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students develop appreciation for another person’s point of view and also show consideration to other living beings.

Objectives:
  1. Personality development through social service.
  2. Understand the community in which they work.
  3. Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  4. Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in the problem solving process.
  5. Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  6. Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.
  7. Develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities.
  8. Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
  9. Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
  10. Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
  11. Practice national integration and social harmony.

The NSS students of our institute keep up the useful work in organizing campaigns for awareness on social issues, popularization of the nationally accepted objectives like nationalism, democracy, secularism, social harmony, Swachchha Bharat Abhiyan etc.

A number of extension activities to inculcate the mind-set to serve the society among students during their receptive age are conducted through NSS. The institute is bound to respond to nation’s calls through extension activities such as:
