About Women’s Development Cell (WDC)

The Women’s Development Cell (WDC) was a statutory body for the prevention of and action against sexual harassment of women. The main objective of WDC was to look into the grievances of teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students, especially in cases of gender discrimination.

The formation of a college level Women Development Cell was made mandatory by the University of Mumbai after the Vishaka Judgment in the year 2001. In compliance with this mandate of the University, the Women Development Cell of Bharat Shikshan Mandal's Deo-Ghaisas-Keer Arts, Commerce, Science Senior College was established in the year 2017, separate Internal Complaints Committee has been established for prevention of and action against sexual harassment of women at workplace.

The main role of Women Development Cell is to promote general well-being of girl students and teaching and non teaching women staff of Cell of Bharat Shikshan Mandal's Deo-Ghaisas-Keer Arts, Commerce, Science Senior College .The positive sex ratio is well reflected in the girl-student strength of our college.

1. To make students aware of gender equity.
2. To create social awareness about the problems of women and in particular regarding gender discrimination.
3. To enhance self confidence among women students and staff.
4. To enable an understanding of laws related to women in the workplace and the outside world.
5. To highlight the importance of health and hygiene.

1. To organise various types of training programmes and self employment schemes for the encouragement of self-reliance among women.
2. To create social awareness about the problems of women and in particular regarding gender discrimination.
3. To prevent sexual harassment and to promote the general well-being of female students, teaching and non-teaching women staff of the college.
4. To organise seminars, programs and workshops for the creation of general awareness and for the orientation of students, teachers and non-teaching staff for their active and sustained participation in the activities of the cell.
